Phenomenal legs (LiveFit Day 18)

Phenomenal Woman

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms,
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It’s the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can’t touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them,
They say they still can’t see.
I say,
It’s in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed.
I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing,
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It’s in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
The palm of my hand,
The need for my care.
‘Cause I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

The junior English class I work with is writing an essay on African Americans. Black history, particularly the Harlem Renaissance, is my favorite time period to study in history, and I loved sharing my knowledge. I think it's time for me to pick up some history books again, or at least finally read Zora Neale Hurston's Their Eyes Were Watching God.

March kicked off well, with more sleep! And good thing too 'cause I had to work both jobs.

I was not ready for another leg day, but here it is!

  • Leg extensions were familiar. I tried to do the big moves (squat and lunges) first so that I would still have enough energy to do the barbell deadlift.
  • The barbell deadlift was easier today. Much easier.
  • Easiest exercise and thus my favorite, lunge. It's not easy per se, but I feel strong.
  • I left calf rises and leg curls for the end since those are easier for me.
  • I went up with the leg curl! The woman before me had it at just 50 pounds?

I always put my belongings in the same locker.

I cooked up a big batch of chicken and with it, I ate a PB & banana English muffin! So good.

I've been drinking so much water that I ran out and the school's fountain water is gross. I ended up buying some orange sparkling water.

On my way home, I found Jif to go at the 99 cent store. Though it's not chocolate silk! :( I ate it with the rice cake in the background.

I came home to a package in the mail from iHerb. I bought 4 bottles of Alive! Women's Energy multis and a 50+ for my mom.

I saw reviews and decided to buy them, and my holistic doctor manager told me these were good ones short of the expensive multis.

Is anyone else watching "American Idol" or are you watching the "Jaws" marathon?

What multivitamins do you take? Any other supplements? I take a calcium supplement as well.

I'm off this weekend but work a lot next week. :/ I'm nice and sore and tired, and ready for bed. I need to take advantage of the weekend - any ideas?
