WIAW: work is my workout

I never/rarely use work as an excuse to skip my workouts. Unless that is I work till 9:45 last night, get home at 10:15, wake up at 7:30, and go to work for 8 more hours. I rarely work back-to-back shifts where I'm moving things. My usual morning job involves standing but talking to/at kids.

Last night, we had a floor set in which I un-packaged and folded or hung clothes. Today, I ironed clothes, washed dishes, and put in plexiglass shelves into dusty, splintered wood cabinets. My hands look like death.

Because I got home late last night, I didn't have a chance to pack my meals so I was up early trying to get it all done. I made 1 egg + 1 egg white with plain oatmeal for breakfast, 1/2 PB & banana sandwich for snack, salad with Trader Joe's masala burger & Laughing Cow strawberries & creme for lunch, and 1/2 of this banana frozen yogurt with PB sauce from Sweet Chills for dessert.

After work, I headed straight to Mother's for a green juice since I knew I'd be skipping my workout. I supplemented it with orange-y soy chicken and a Fuji apple.

While I was out, I bought a new bar of chocolate at Whole Foods for $5. Surprisingly, the Fearless Chocolate 70% Matcha Green Tea & Peppermynt is cheaper there.

The stats are pretty fantastic: only 120 calories for half the bar! The chocolate is made from raw cacao and organic everything.

Someone bit my chocolate... not.

As for the taste, it's silkier than expected with a bitter after bite. I tasted the peppermint first then the bitterness before the matcha.

And here's a worm?!

I also bought another bar last week and have been working on it for awhile, Theo 85% Dark Chocolate. The flavor is bitter, smoky, and straightforward. While it's not silky, it's smooth. It feels pure.

Now it's time to relax as I wait for "Love in the Wild" then bedtime.

My membership to 24 Hour Fitness is finished for the year. I've switched over to Gold's Gym though I'll miss the classes. I can still do my favorite workout: the Spartacus workout.

I'm also starting Ra Yoga and just bought a deal for Studio Fusion. Both are some of my favorite studios here in Orange County. Ra offers ton of yoga, all the time while Studio Fusion has barre and the best Zumba I've experienced here thus far.

A healthy diva eats chocolate

I'm giving this photo a day a try. I never remember so wish me luck!

#healthydivas Day 1: Pink was reminiscent of Healthy Diva Eats' day 1. I found a pink straw at home for my breakfast smoothie.

Lunch after the gym: baked sweet potato fries and 1 egg + 1 egg white in a brown rice tortilla.

I added avocado - yum!

After listening to Jillian Michaels' podcast, I was craving some Green & Black's white chocolate. Okay, white chocolate isn't the best for you, but this is absolutely delicious. It's sweet, but has much more cocoa content (30%) and has specks of vanilla. Vanilla is for losers, vanilla bean is where it's at.

I was all smiles for Day 2: Smiles #healthydivas. Had to catch up.

I stopped by The Cheese Shop at the OC Mart Mix to get a bar of Mast Brothers Chocolate. I chose the vanilla & smoke over sea salt, coffee flavors, and hazelnut. Sea salt is so common and I don't like coffee much. The bar is basic: cacao, cane sugar, and vanilla bean.

The smoky flavor wasn't too pungent and only present in the aftertaste. The cacao content is 71% so it's dark but still tasty.

Look what else I found on my phone. I was being serious too. Don't judge me.

Long day at work. We actually had to work until 9:40 and had to take a "break." I brought a half salad with 3 shrimp and avocado so I supplemented it with seafood salad at Bristol Farms. They have an amazing selection of white fish ceviche, mussels, mango shrimp, salmon and tuna poke. I got a teeny bit of each and mostly ceviche. My favorite was tuna poke, mussels with sun-dried tomatoes, and the ceviche was quite good.

Gah, I got some school loan bills. Must save more (to pay them) and eat out less. Unfortunately, all my food is holed up at my mom's and I'm at home. I'll have to swing on by in the morning.

MIMM: Ready, set, [July] goals!

June went by so fast. I finished up my first year at the high school and I went to Austin. It was packed with MARVELOUS adventure.

I did manage to complete some of my June goals in the midst of all the fun.
  • Finish Mockingjay and read Drop Dead Healthy, which I also need to buy.
  • Study a chapter this month 'cause let's be real.
  • Catch up with Joy the Baker and Jillian Michaels' podcasts. I love Jillian's podcasts, her advice on yoga (she says Ashtanga is good but not Bikram), and her love of Green & Black chocolates - yum).
  • Sign up for a Tspoons class!
  • Try Ashtanga yoga.
  • Go hiking (in Austin).
  • Complete 4-5 of my Summer Bucket List items.
  • Go vintage/thrift shopping to dress more like Meg. Gosh, she dresses so well.
  • Do the Awesomesauce Arms workout every night from here on out. If no weights available, do body weight arm workouts.
This month I start my summer job and will be using my deal for Ra Yoga. Again, I will be doing tons of yoga like I did in May/June. I'm excited since I've been yoga-less for 2 weeks.

July goals
  • Be social. Get to know my new co-workers.
  • Try Ashtanga yoga. This should happen since Ra offers it.
  • Sign up for a Tspoons class. Still haven't done it yet. :(
  • Finish traffic school. Yeah, that's more of a to-do then a goal.
  • Complete 4-5 items on my Summer Bucket List.
  • Celebrate my 25th birthday. 'Cause I totally didn't celebrate my 24th.
  • Eat more chocolate.
  • Read more books. I have 3 books on hand plus Mockingjay on audio.
Big goal for the year, which I have to remind myself of: take the CTEL in November! Those study guide questions are kind of hard.

Last night, I started watching a MARVELOUS show, "New Girl." I've been living under a rock. Zooey Deschanel has such great fashion on the show!

The actress plays such a fun character. She's a sing-songy teacher, and reminds me of this MARVELOUS picture:
