MIMM: Like a brand new start

Technically, I was back from vacation yesterday afternoon. I wasn't jet lagged and I wasn't tired, but I thought to rest. Traveling gets kind of stressful. My body definitely had major digestion problems the whole time. I'm feeling much better now that I'm home. :)

Today's agenda

Work, cause it's good for me?

I start a summer job in a couple weeks so we have orientation. I get a few days off this week though (Wednesday-Friday)!

Find a new book to read.

I finished Drop Dead Healthy as part of the PB Fingers June book club.

TurboKick an yoga for stretching

Its been almost a week without a class!

Return movies

I rented a couple of Redbox movies yesterday.

I don't know what was going on...

Much better, but I haven't finished it yet.

Eat pizza.

My cousin mentioned pizza yesterday so on my lunch break, I headed over to Mother's for a slice of pizza and green juice. Unfortunately, my stomach wasn't happy with all the sitting after lunch. :(

Nap.

Because I only slept 7 hours. I've been sleeping 8-9 hours on vacation.

Hanging with the [Austin] locals

On Friday, our host, Joe, signed up for his neighborhood fish fry so we tagged along.

Barton Springs*: lots of dogs, kind of smelly. I opted to stay out of the water.
*It's a part of the river but with man-made rocks for public use.

I hung out with Precious instead.

Lunch at El Arroyo again: Cancun veggie avocado.

We walked downtown to digest the food.

Vintage stores:

Big Top candy shop where I got some vegan gummies and because my candy didn't cost the minimum, shared a Blue Bell cookies and cream ice cream with Sara.

Home for a nap before heading to Sam's Boat for drinks and pool.

I stayed up for a little and chatted with Joe. I got a few hours of sleep then headed to the airport before 7 to catch our ride home.

Home: just as sunny but not as hot.

Float the river & bar hopping through Austin

Plan: float the San Marcos River south of Austin

Of course, I got stuck within the first few minutes in.

We met wonderful people along the way. Sara and Joe weren't into the "frat" dude families. I gave them a Bud Light Lime-A-Rita and they gave us 64 calorie beers.

Two beers settled me in. We also learned from the veteran floaters - put your feet up around the cooler tube.

Shower and rest before my college friend Meredi came to pick us up. We headed to Ruta Maya for drinks. I had a hibiscus tea + lemonade + vodka.

We hung out at Meredi and her boyfriend/another college acquaintance, Frank's apartment. We watched dailies of his newest project via his partnership, Guerrilla Day Project.

Mer drove us to El Arroyo to meet up with Rebecca and her co-workers. I was hungry, but I ended up just drinking. First stop, tequila shots at Third Base before closing...

Then Donn's Depot, a train car turned bar.

The bathroom was ridiculous - shag rug and a second level with poles. I felt like I was on a circus train.

Free drinks from the co-workers: a couple of Dos Equis and shots with a couple of cute guys.

Um, these weren't the cute ones. Sorry.

Good or at least interesting conversations later, we ate leftover guac and mushrooms out of a styrofoam container on our ride home.
