I've never been a fan of huge places. 1500 sq ft might be the most I'd go for. Cleaning, managing it all would be too much.

My other dream was to own a VW bus, wear sundresses, go swimming a lot (even though I suck at it)... think Beach Boys. Here's a skateboarder's home that I admire just as much (via MadeByGirl).
The above images are from San Fran. I love how those houses look, the facade on the street. This Young House also featured a similar picture of houses in Richmond, VA.
